Live auction

Live auction this Saturday April 25th! 5:00pm!!!!

Hello friends,

We have spent the weekend in beautiful San Antonio at the Texas Auctioneer’s Association Convention. The weather was perfect! We talked about how we had never experienced cool temps on any of our visits to San Antonio. It’s always been hot and humid!

We arrived Thursday around 2:00. The convention started at 1:00. Story of our lives! Always late! The convention was at the Sheraton Gunter Hotel. We stayed at this hotel 22 years ago on our honeymoon. September 19, 1992. Back then it was all dark wood and had a very western feel to it. Very much historic San Antonio. It’s now been “remodeled” which basically means all the beautiful wood has been painted white and the huge wooden columns in the lobby are now lit up with blue fabric in an attempt to modernize.

Funny honeymoon story – Clay spent his savings on building a barn apartment on the land he had purchased many years before. I spent my savings on the wedding and furniture so….when it came time for a honeymoon, we had very little money left. We did have the traditional “dollar dance” at the wedding so we had some extra cash for the honeymoon. We were originally suppose to have a full week for our honey moon.

We spent the first 2 nights at the Prince Solms Inn in New Braunfels before making our way to the Gunter Hotel. We ended up staying a couple of nights and decided we had to get home! We both needed to get back to work ASAP! We had never been so broke in our entire lives! BUT we were coming home to a rent free 600 square ft. apartment in a newly constructed metal barn. None of which would have been possible without the help of lots friends & family!!! Parents, aunts, uncles, cousins & friends helped to pour concrete, tape & bed, texture, build cabinets etc….

Back to the convention. This was our third year to attend. Clay earns his continuing education credit and we stay up to date on all of the auction laws & rules. We’ve made lots of friends and always had a great time! We are already looking forward to next year!
